'Zounds! These are mortal stabs to me,
to see vice parleyed with,
and sometimes I feel suddenly inclined
to fly into a wilderness far from the approach of men.’

“Is honesty in human relationships possible?” the Misanthrope asks. Alceste, the Misanthrope, draws back from his world because he cannot bear its falseness, dissembling, artificial cheerfulness and ambiguous politeness. He wants to be completely honest with other people and expects it from the others, too. This leads to a collapse of the structure being a basis for the social living together. Alceste gets many enemies and would rather leave the world forever. If there was not Célimèn who artistically veils the sharp eye of Alceste and makes him forget about all of his principles.

A director with a unique style together with a young and powerful company of comedians confronting this ever topical topic.
