“Gamblers” is a real thriller. The story starts at a tiny guest house where a skilful card swindler Ihharev decides to spend the night. How could a con artist sit still while the guest house is full of potential victims? Thus, Ihharev deceives three gentlemen into playing cards with him with the aim of emptying their pockets. But are these gentlemen really as lousy at gambling as they seem? Or are they actually even better at cheating than he is? It is the beginning of a dashing double game full of unexpected twists and it extends even beyond the card table....
The guest director from the Caucasus region, Jevgeni Ibragimov said that he tried to open the story from the perspective of how passion corrupts human beings. “Gambling turns a person into a puppet – a living devil and satan in one. If the passion for gambling finds its way into someone’s soul, it ruins the person. Momentarily.”
