Typically to Kafka, everything seems realistic on the surface: as a result of a misleading (?) letter from an official, a land surveyor K arrives at the castle to take part in the land surveying works. Little by little it becomes clear that the task is too complicated for the stranger: getting into the castle requires overcoming one obstacle after another and going through a never-ending line of bureaucratic control procedures. For some reason, the owners of the castle do not want the stranger entering their territory and surveying their lands. Without noticing it, the observer gets drawn into Kafka’s world wandering the darkest labyrinths of the unconscious with the questions “What is this world? What is the meaning of it? Who am I and what is the meaning of my being in this world?” hammering in the head.
