Kovalenko’s adaption of “The Diary of a Madman” tackles the problem of insanity in a an unusual way: the director is not interested in the clinical diagnosis but tries to assess the contemporary society which is normal and pragmatic to the extent of being unable to plunge into the frenzy of love or dreams.
