The land of drama
8.-12.09 at 11-21at Genialists' Club (Magasini 5)
Estonians love national dramaturgy. Last year there were 68 Estonian texts in theaters' repertoire, 56 of them were new plays. Every year the average number of local texts on our stages is about 20 - that means that every 7th production is based on Estonian dramaturgy. "The land of drama" is an oportunity to get to know the Estonian playwrights loved by Estonians today, as well as the topics that interest our playwrights and audience. Twelve playwrights in six dialogues have been interviewed especially for "The land of drama". These conversations are to reveal eachother as well as the audience why they write, why especially for theatre, how they write, to whom they write, what they write.
The curators for the exhibition are Heidi Aadma and Ott Karulin from Estonian Theatre Agency. The same team was responsible for similar exhibition NATTIUM at last year's festival UNT!, so the approach is quite similar - playful, but factual. "The land of drama" is exposed on the 2nd floor of Genialists' Club.
